The Scale of Scaleform

We've got a little surprise in store for you all with the 1.12.0 release of APB Reloaded. One that we've been keeping very quiet on. Patch 1.12.0 will bring with it the first implementation of our new Scaleform User Interface.

We've spent a long time working on this, getting all the systems and mechanics in place. One of the biggest challenges has been creating it in the background of the game without disrupting the existing User Interface. The first release of this major improvement contains entirely re-made 3D versions of the Login, Character Select screens, and more. While our newly revamped front end doesn't include updates for the HUD or Editors yet, we hope to have more news on that in the coming months.

It's also bringing a new theme song to APB Reloaded. Sharp-eared listeners might recognize parts of this new track from Asylum back in Halloween 2012. We hope you enjoy more of the unique work by our very own in-house audio guru, Farfletched.

There's another secret in this update, but that would be telling...

    1. Wait, what?

"do something about those who tend to win over the players that pay premium etc(like me)"

So you think it should be a pay to win game then. Go play in front of a bus.

    2. To quote : "ending, cheaters!please do something about those who tend to win over the players that pay premium etc(like me)"

I take it that English is not your first language. I'm assuming you mean the following : "Please make some game changes to help catch and ban out the obvious aimbots that seem so prevalent these days, for the sake of those of us who don't cheat and pay to play this game".

If so, I agree wholeheartedly with you.

If you mean that those of us who pay premium should be getting in-game advantages over those who don't, however, I have to agree with Jon. I'm HOPING I just restated your response correctly ....

  3. Wait.. What's the other secret?

If it's not "WE FIXED EVERYTHING", then I may or may not lose interest.

  8. This is wonderful. APB right now has one of the absolute worst interfaces I've ever used in a game; it was desperately in need of a revamp. Can't wait to see how other parts of the interface look.

  9. I like the new feel it gives to the game. While I love the original style, this certainly adds a sense of epicness which I hope the servers can finally help alongside with it.

I'm sure Farfletched's work will really kick it off.

  10. As some one that's been around this game since the first closed beta, as well as being a tester for you all, I can see why you all would want to revamp the login and what not. But why when the game still hemorrhages memory. I personally think it has to do with the suites you are using to construct the game. Why are you using Autodesk 3dx max to do the main modeling and textures when the game is based on the unreal engine. You should be using the UDK (Unreal Development Kit) Not only would that save on work time cause you don't have to convert from standard file types.
3ds Max Character (*.chr) Material Library (*.mat) Skin Envelopes(*.env, *.envASCII)UVW coordinates (*.uvw)
to .U format files that the engine can read and use accordingly.
Also when conversion happens from the standard 3dx max file there is a bunch of garbage that is attached that the unreal engine doesn't need.
Also why do this when the games balance system is still broken. with current systems a person is able to create a new account and basically farm in a green threat instance with out worry. Another thing the system the is supposed to restrict low rank players from using class 3 mods is still broken. if you have to be rank 195 to buy the mod from a contact you should have to be 195 to use the mod as well.

  12. Finally! We start to see the Scaleform implementation. I have been waiting so long for this!

Thank you for not dropping this (if I understand Scaleform correctly, this means we can have custom UIs for events, so we have better ways of tallying things).

    Can't wait for the rest

  13. No one seems to be asking ... what district is shown on the picture?

Reminds me of Financial, but I can't recall that spot.

    1. Well, right now, the only way to get an OCA Nano is going to be the in-game marketplace, as the Joker Boxes that had them in it are not available for purchase. Good luck!

  16. i think you they should add some kind of banks in the game or something. soo it atleast look like you robing something big. braking random doors to steal a damn computer is like what small lame criminals do. not what a damn army of criminals do

  18. You guys might wanna disable the banners from changing. It kinda takes the frozen moment in time away and just makes it look like you placed things that don't move in a cool way. Otherwise looks amazing, love it.

  19. So you're telling me, I'll be getting horrible FPS drops BEFORE my game has even started! How exciting!

  20. This is awesome, G1 never fails to surprise me.

  21. Please be some new kickass district and looking at the picture, new animations.

Or maybe it's a lag fix. Nah that's impossibru.

  22. Well I have looked at the picture for a bit, and from what I can tell, that's a different district, I see some architectural differences too.

What i'm hoping for is that, that secret, is an amazing new urban city district with a more New-York like feel, at least that's the vibe i'm getting from that picture.

The current districts could use a partner district with a more dense city feel.

Also, nice update. That UI looks great!

    1. Looks like it could be either a new district, or an expansion of financial, cause that blue X building is in financial

  23. Why did we need this? And why is it better than what we had?

  24. I prefer the old music and the old interface u_u

  25. Looks awesome. I really like it. That's how RTW should have done the login screen in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well at least we know now that it isn't a new district but what did you guys expect? All this stuff is gathered from the financial and waterfront district. I am a gamemaker myself and if you know how to make one you can easily see that this is just some gathered props. Well anyway, its not a secret anymore: we have a great new spawn system! Good job reloaded productions! Keep up the good work!
