We're back!

Now THAT was a serious hiatus!

A lot of stuff has happened since the last blog entry in October. Between the Greek debt crisis, US Presidential politics and an incredible focus by our Game Studio on the next version of APB, there just never seemed to be time to make a full blog post. And now it's already spring-time again!

Separate from the intense work at our Game Studio, our back-end team has been finalizing a brand new stand-alone MMO publishing platform for people who want to spare themselves the trouble of spending years creating their own MMO publishing system and just want focus on making a great game. Our new platform comes with complete payment systems, in-game analytics, fraud management, in game product management, marketing tools and hosting services, so you can publish your own hard-core free2play MMO to millions of players (just in case YOU, or any of your friends, happen to have built a serious free2play MMO in your garage and you need to reach a global audience) But that is a whole other topic that will be announced completely separately from this blog (at www.reloadedinc.com). So with that interlude... back to APB!

Springtime For APB

We have a TON of game changes coming up in our big 1.7 patch. 1.7 introduces a large number of features, an extended progression system and major changes to core features that we think will make the game a lot more fun for many players.

On the global front we partnered with Innova Systems in Russia last year, and last month Innova launched the APB Open Beta in Russia, and they very quickly hit some pretty impressive player numbers on their Russian servers!

Over the last few months we were also battling a few 'snafu's' of our own making - including some messed up threat ratings (which were fixed, but not before causing some major havoc in the game), and some issues around people suddenly having the ability to 'de-threat' almost at will (something that we also curtailed). We did try hard to not let those distract us from the critical work on 1.7.

New in 1.7 is brand new progression content, brand new modifications (like the ability to put a 'brick' on the accelerator in your car, jump out and turn the whole thing into semi-guided cruise missile), updates to missions that continue our long running work of making them more fun and engaging, map updates, as well as major updates to Fight Club with the launch of the Fight Club Challenge system (to give Fight Club a lot more definition and purpose).

We will be updating the Test World with 1.7 this weekend so people can start the process of testing out several of these new features, and then after our final semi-public test-run, we are hoping to go fully live to everyone in mid-April with the first set of 1.7 features.

Permanent Weapon Changes Coming

Last but not least... We will be changing the way you buy permanent weapons in the game in the future (!). Right now most permanent weapons are NOT account bound - but purchased for each character. In the near future we will (finally) be switching to a system that the most common permanent weapon will be account bound and apply to ALL your characters. For those who have already bought those permanent weapons in the past, those will then apply to all your characters. For those who bought more than one of the same permanent weapon, you will get some extra-special compensation and your credits back after this change goes into effect. More details to be provided soon.

More Bloggers!

In order to provide a lot more frequent updates to this blog I am also adding some new faces and posters who will start providing many more hands-on updates and news.

This was just a quick 'hello' to tell you guys that 'we are back.' Over the next week I am handing over the mic to APB's Producer 'Quinzel' to start sharing the gory 1.7 details, and then we will open up the floor to a bunch of different team members who will be able to share all the exciting new things we will finally be able to release.

Oh - and don't forget to go check out the latest stuff on the forums (specifically the revamped items that Quinzel just put up: http://forums.gamersfirst.com/topic/266582-armas-spring-sale-this-weekend/ ). See you all in San Paro!

  6. So, no performance updates planed ?

would really like to have a more steady framerate then a bunch of new features.

  7. The game clearly requires a LOT of resources (one of the drawbacks to all those customizations). You should see better performance in Fight Club than in the main districts. The team however IS working on optimizations. One is an upcoming revamped UI system that should be less resource intensive, as well as future optimizations.

    1. I hope so, since at the moment you need a quad core processor or dual core with higher clock speed than 3,0ghz to make the game run smooth.

you guys should consider making a "low performance version" of the game. one with lowres textures etc, for people with laptops and older pc's.

i really dont get some of the peoples complains about the game, in my oppinion the performance is the main issue since it makes the game unplayable for some people that really wants to play!

    2. Thats fantastic news tech! Is the UI gonna be updated to look a little better? Because although it works it can be a little well bland :D

    3. Quad core is the recommended CPU specifications for this game. It's not a bug or problem with the engine that's causing your fps drops; if you don't have a good CPU, you get bad frame rate. Pure and simple.

Fight club is the "low end computer" version of the game, Tuck Dragon. Play that :)

  9. TechMech lives and this all sounds great! 1 small question: what do you mean by "that the MOST COMMON permanent weapon will be account bound"? Thanks!

  10. aww only a perm bonus to people who are going to actually pay real money for guns? thats just great... looking forward to all of 1.7 in general though!

  12. I hope car parts are being considered for account wide. It sucks to have to buy the same kit multiple times, and kinda unfair frankly.

    UPDATE THE BLOG MORE! :(

    cant wait for 1.7.0

  16. OH any idea if area hold mission will come back to FC? it was removed after fc went on live and made FC very campy/mem

    more boring

on the perm guns: will the compesation include different ranks for the guns? one char owns an rt1 and onther owns an rt2.. will the rt1 get compesated and the rt2 stay on all characters?

    ReplyDelete
  17. meant to say pr1/pr2 ie whisper pr1 and pr2.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I doubt it, it will just mean that all your characters will have both PR1 and PR2

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'd rather be able to choose which weapons go account wide. Considering I have 2 Whisper PR1's and I never use them since I unlocked the Iron Reaper, and bought a CSG. I'd rather have my CSG be account wide, than the Whispers, or my Scout PR2.

Tl;dr, we should get to choose which weapon(s?) become account wide, rather than G1 choosing for us.

    ReplyDelete
  20. We'll share info pretty soon on how this will work. The goal is to make all your previously purchased guns account-wide, but we are still working out some technical details in regard to this before we release the next batch on info.

    ReplyDelete
  21. sounds like u guys are still trying to figure how to "compensate" the players. this is great news...

honestly dunno who thought players would buy a pr2 version of a gun when they already own pr1.... players should be able to upgrade (for the price difference)

and the end this are all virtual items for you... and any extra money is great.

one of the reason i purchased on the retail box (when i had 120days of premium i dont even use) was the account wide weapon

    ReplyDelete
  22. But what about the actual clothing items?
I did buy the Tactical pack long ago, but ever since switching servers(low pop) my purchases are useless, its not just the tactical pack, its also the bishada kit 1 and audio/wheel kit.
    Cisco wheel kit as well..

  26. sounds awsome but now to the real guestion the bugs whit nades that makes the hit walls that isent there ...
    the support just ignoring players.
random bans telling them that they are cheating ....

    ReplyDelete
  27. worst support ever just keep on sending auto msg
do you care at all about the players björn ??
imean look at the forum so many "random" banns out there and yeah some of them probly did hack but im guessing there are a few that dident ..and the support them should be kicked and a new team put in place ...well that probly aint gona help is you guys dont care but there is so much bs from g1 ... did read that there should be dev peapol looking around and being active on the forum but thats bs only forum admins that dosent do more the block and delet post´s.......

so will be see eny change on how g1 is handeling there players or is it gona be like it is now ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well - actually - our new ban system (which has been in place for some time) will affect cheaters in all kinds of ways. Even if you are a 'reformed' cheater (as followers of the blog I am sure you have seen all the 'I never cheated' people who later say 'ok - just a little bit - but then I tried to erase the cheat so you shouldn't have banned me') - chances are that most are NOT random. And THEY know it.

And our Devs ARE in fact on the forums. A LOT. And they do care to boot. But the F2P business is just a pretty thankless business to be in, since all the good things we do every day rarely gets noticed :(

      Delete
    2. And - stating the obvious - you just had the CEO of the company (i.e. that's me) reply to you personally. :). Hopefully that will give our support focus some cred...

      Delete
    3. thx bjorn there might be some hope left then ,yeah i have seen the peapol saying that i wouldent think there wasent eny misses in the banning if i dident know better .and even if there is hope whit you börn that aint gona help the support peapol get from the "real" support , imean sure they say you have to be paying to get support iget that but even if you are paying it wount help might help you whit some problems and adding bug reports but not when someone is asking why they are getting banned they will only send a auto mail. a few time then they will ask you to contact PB and end that msg whit
"This account will not be unblocked and all current/future tickets will be closed and no further action will be taken on this account.

Please contact Punkbuster for more details.

      "
so calling that support ,,, idont know and probly only reason why this isent a big problem yet is that the game is a f2p , and peapol are to lazy to realy take to the next step, or the fact is that there are only 0.5% that get banned whitout cheating. but putting time in to that from the support team ,not gona happen i guess to litle money and there are better things to do like new weapons iguess. serius the support is the only bad thing about G1(apbr) cant think of enything else then just that.

so bjorn a few things that would be nice to know.

      1. dose the auto "hack/cheater" msg go out to everbody that get there account blocked even that they dident cheat ? lets say harrasin grifeing ect ,or is it only to cheater/hackers?

2.what peapol are placeing the bans whent the ban isent comeing from PB ,there most be someone on g1 that is puting bans in by them self.

3.lets say "you" are one of that 0.4% that got banned for no reason if that now do happens there are no proff of it happening sens g1 is just telling peapol "no we wont help aint our problem its yours" not like there can be a problem whit PB or a human problem placeing the bans ? imean there was a auto ban placed on BF3 80 peapol in one day no one before no one after and that ended up being a problem from PB.

and once more thx for the answer Björn .and i realy hope you keep working hard for apb to make it the best game out and one day we will see APB2
      :D

  29. before APB-reloaded was released you said that APB reloaded was going to have a south-american server right after US and EU servers are open, and I saw this post one year ago and havent seen nothing about South-American Servers are opening or any expeculation or idea about opening it soon or not. and you guys already made the russian server and the asian one...
I just would like a awnser about that, because i love playing APB with my friends but we cant be competitive getting 200ms+ and our opp getting around 50ms...

    1. We have licensed APB to a South American publisher. We expect them to complete the Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish versions in the next couple of months, and then we will work with them to help them start up a Beta in SA shortly thereafter.

    1. 120-140ms is okay, but 200ms+ is a bit too much if u want be the best on a server and im really competitive in shooters games... And Im from Brazil and i live in a small city we dont have good internet connections here,
and if theres any way to i get 120-140ms in US server i wouldnt change to a SA server... But it seems impossible.
